Software guru John McAfee, famous for his anti-virus software, arrives in Guatemala City, aiming to seek political asylum.

McAfee is on the run from police in Belize who want to question him in a murder probe.

The tech guru has been living here on the island of Ambergris Caye for several years.

But he's been in hiding for three weeks, since police said they wanted to question him about the death of his neighbour.

McAfee denies involvement, and says he's the victim of a witch hunt.

SOUNDBITE: ANTI-VIRUS SOFTWARE GURU JOHN MCAFEE, SAYING (English):

"Since that time I have been continually harassed by the government, they have attempted to charge me with every crime ranging from an antibiotics laboratory without a license to hiring security guards without a license, to having improper paperwork for my company and most recently the murder of my neighbour. I had to leave, but the story has to get out."

McAfee smuggled himself and his girlfriend across the border and into Guatemala.

The request for political asylum is expected to be formally presented on Wednesday (December 5).
