Microsoft begins production of the “next big entertainment franchise”, Rockstar Games hit with successful petition for PC version of Grand Theft Auto V, and Sony finally announces hardware sales figures during Black Friday week, THIS IS NICK’S GAMING VIEW!
Hello everyone and welcome to Nick’s Gaming View, you are here with your host, Nick McCandless. Microsoft’s renamed studio in Vancouver, Black Tusk Studios, has published job listings for a AAA IP that’s said to “define Microsoft’s next big entertainment franchise.” No information has been provided in regards to whether or not the project is slated for the next Xbox or the current Xbox 360, but the listing does state that they intend to “push the limits of Microsoft’s entertainment platforms.” Considering the age of the current Xbox platform and this statement, it seems like a no-brainer that the next big thing is set to take place on the next Xbox, but stay tuned for more concrete information.
With 2012 coming to a close, gamers are prepping for the upcoming year set to provide a plethora of incredible video game experiences including the sure-to-be hit, Grand Theft Auto V. Confirmed for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, Rockstar Games recently stated that they had no plans for a PC version of the game sparking rage within the PC gaming market. Because of this, a petition has gone live to encourage Rockstar Games to follow through on a PC version and as of now, over 100,000 signatures have found their way onto the petition with a goal of 150,000. Considering just a couple days ago they were sitting at 41,000 signatures, I wouldn’t be surprised to see this goal met immediately hopefully convincing the team over at Rockstar.
Wrapping up Nick’s Gaming View, nearly a week after Microsoft officially announced the success of the Xbox 360 during Black Friday week, Sony has finally confirmed the sales of the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita during the most intense shopping week of the year. While the PlayStation 3 failed to meet or exceed the sales of the Xbox 360, with over 525,000 units sold, I feel it’s safe to say Sony did pretty well. As far as the Vita goes, Sony sold over 160,000 units which for the Vita is pretty solid, but compared to the competition and considering the incredible deals in place to market the Vita, if I was Sony, I would be a bit concerned.
