Congress President and UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi attended the convocation of National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) and laid foundation stone of its new building at her Parliament constituency, Raebareli.
“Fashion is not something new to our country and it has always been an important part in the Indian life and culture. Indeed, Indians always had a very highly developed aesthetic sense. A sense of style and elegance that you can see in many of our dress styles like ‘lehanga’ and many others and in the wonderful way the men wear their turbans” said Sonia Gandhi. “Every state in India has its own distinct tradition of weaving, dying, printing and embroidery. It has its own styles for everything from caps to jewelry to footwear and a wealth of different motives and patterns” she added.
