Schools across Slovakia have been forced to shut due to a nationwide teachers' strike. Thousands gathered in the capital Bratislava
demanding a doubling of the proposed 5 percent pay increase.
The government has told unions that teacher numbers would need to be cut before bigger hikes can be considered.
