A 200-year-old carriage is up for grabs, expected to fetch close to $150,000 at auction.

An exquisite Indian royal state carriage, dating back almost 200 years, is being auctioned off to the highest bidder by British classic vehicle auctioneer, Historics at Brooklands.

Said to be of British provenance, the horse-drawn coach, once owned by the Maharaja of Mysore and used to transport Her Majesty Queen Victoria and His Royal Highness, the Prince of Wales, is estimated to sell between $110,000 and $160,000.

According to the auction house, the carriage“features an imposing and ornately finished cruciform body with a vaulted, domed roof, situated atop double elliptic springs and iron bound artillery patterned wheels.” The exterior color is an olive green adorned with subtle floral borders and the family coat of arms. “Most of the 16 windows offer drop-down, decorated panels and shutters for privacy.” The interior arched roof is embellished with murals and surrounded by wood carved moldings and finials.

The carriage, which some would consider a work of art, was immortalized in a painting that is housed at the Mysore Palace Museum in India.
