Thanksgiving Parade lights up New York after Sandy's devastation

Millions line the streets of New York to watch the 86th Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade.

Crowds along the parade route cheer a host of giant character balloons make their way through the city.

The parade, typically draws 3.5 million spectators and 50 million television viewers. It features 28 floats, 11 marching bands, and thousands of dancers and cheerleaders.

Santa Claus, the star of the event, closed out the show as thoughts turn from Thanksgiving to Christmas.
