A faulty ATM dispenses out double the cash requested.
A faulty ATM machine dispensing extra bills…it’s the stuff that dreams are made of. Who knew it actually happens?
A cash machine at the Bank of Scotland in Rutherglen recently spit out extra cash with each customer’s transaction. Apparently word spread quickly because dozens of people lined up to make a withdrawal and hopefully get an additional free payout.
Authorities contacted bank officials and the machine was soon shut off remotely.
The Bank of Scotland claimed that any affected customers would be contacted, but further stated “It will be difficult to trace all payments, so it’s unlikely that we will take action.” The ATM was reportedly dispensing double the requested amount.
Earlier this year, an Ipswich cash machine in England began spewing out what witnesses called 'free money’. The ATM glitch caused the machine to dispense twice the amount that the customer requested.
It didn't take long for a crowd to gather; around 30 people were waiting in line to try their luck.
