Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) chief Altaf Hussain has strongly condemned the bomb blast near an Imam Bargah in Abbas Town area of the metropolis.

The MQM chief, in a statement, expressed his sympathies over several deaths and injuries in the explosion. He said “this terrorist incident is part of a conspiracy to sabotage sectarian harmony and create law and order situation in the month of Muharram”.

Altaf Hussain said those behind such terrorist incidents were the enemies of Islam and Pakistan.

He appealed to the Ulema and the public to foil the nefarious designs of terrorists by maintaining peace and promoting unity and harmony.

The MQM leader offered condolences with the heirs of the victims and prayed for the souls of the martyrs and early recovery of the injured.

He urged President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf, Interior Minister Rehman Malik, Governor Sindh Dr Ishratul Ebad, and Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah to take notice of the Abbas Town blast.

He called for strict security arrangements in Majalis and mourning processions and at Imam Bargahs, and immediate arrest of culprits of the terrorist incident.
