A cat requires surgery to remove its owner's diamond necklace.

Kitty cats: they’re adorable and cuddly. They can also get themselves into some trouble. One UK cat, named Oliver swallowed his owner’s treasured necklace.

The jewelry piece was resting on a coffee table next to his treats. Once his owners’, Francine and Steve realized it was missing, they began suspecting the five-year-old cat probably had something to do with it.

Oliver was taken to a Salford veterinary hospital where an X-ray showed that the diamond and opal necklace was residing in his stomach. Initially they went home, hoping the jewelry would come out naturally, but when that didn’t happen, surgery was performed.

The cat is now healing at home and Francine has her necklace back.

Last year, a dog named Honey Bun ate $10,000 worth of diamonds. The dog went to work every day with his owner, Chuck at a jewelry shop in Georgia.

Chuck had left his desk, where several packs of loose diamonds were sitting to assist a client. When he returned a pouch was missing and an X-ray revealed Honey Bun was most likely the culprit. The diamonds were recovered shortly after.
