Another of me playing the wonderful Compton electrone organ model 363 installed at St Peter & St Paul Catholic Church in Lichfield, Staffordshire.
Im playing the hymn 'Immaculate Mary' which allows the opportunity to demonstrate some of my favourite electrone registrations - the 'classic electrone tone colours' as I call them. The effect of the rotofon speakers combined with stunning acoustics can be clearly heard here.
This organ was a real joy to play. These organs are fast becoming extinct with many churches replacing them with digital instruments etc. Modern technology is indeed appealing with its realistic sampled sounds but history is being lost as a result. Opportunities should be taken to see that these unique instruments are preserved for future generations to experience how technology worked in the pre digital era.
Many thanks to the church officials for allowing me access to this wonderful Compton organ and for such a friendly welcome.
NOTE: this is purely my interest in order to make sure that these fine organs are archived forever and I do not make any monetary profit by this video being on dailymotion.
