A nasty smelling landfill installs an air freshener-like contraption to curb resident complaints.
Landfills usually aren’t thought of as pleasant, but it's just accepted they will have a foul smell.
However, Scottish borders council has placed a huge mechanism at a landfill, serving as an air freshener to keep a small town’s residents happy.
The atrocious scent is reportedly spreading throughout the area from the Easter Langlee dump. The Scottish Environmental Protection Agency began investigating complaints after various residents complained of an “appalling stench”.
Working together, council officials and environmental protection authorities in the region devised a plan. A spokesperson states “We have hired an odor control unit which sprays a fine mist of odor neutralizing agent into the air. Its performance will be monitored over the coming days and weeks.”
Recently another landfill in Pennsylvania was causing nearby dwellers to complain. A resident ranted at a board meeting, stating “We’ve had a horrific odor from the dump. It was the worst it ever was and you couldn’t even go outside and we’re at least a mile away”.
The owners of the site addressed the complaints, pledging to install costly poles with devices which would hide the odor.
