Syria opposition elects new leaders

The main opposition Syrian National Council, under pressure to unite and bring in all parties, has elected a new leadership with Islamists heavily represented, SNC officials said on Thursday. Some members of the SNC, who have been meeting in Doha since Sunday, argue that the international community has not done enough to support the Syrian people, but remain hopeful that the new leadership will tackle the country's challenges.
