Debenhams releases 'Plain English' coffee menu in lieu of customer complaints.

Even for diehard coffee fanatics, understanding and pronouncing items from a café’s menu can be confusing. Well, upscale store and café chain, Debenhams has come up with a solution to that problem, placing ‘Plain English’ menus so to speak in their establishments.

The new menu easily breaks it down: Black Coffee is now described as ‘simple coffee-with or without milk’. Caffe latte is listed as ‘really really milky coffee’, cappuccino is ‘frothy coffee’ and caffe mocha is described as 'chocolate flavored coffee'.

An official for the store states “We’re testing a redesign of the menu so shoppers spend less time playing coffee Cluedo and more time enjoying their favorite drink.” The menu change comes after 70% of customers complained about the difficult pronunciations, and meanings .

The traditional coffee cup sizes were scrapped too. Originally, Debenhams used sizes such as tall for small, grande for large and venti for extra arge. Now the high street retailer will only be offering customers two choices in regards to size: a cup or a mug.
