Cargo handler quits West Bengal

History is repeating itself in West Bengal. In 2008, her vehement protests forced the Tata Group pull out of Singur. Four years later the ghost of Singur came back haunting West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. The cargo handling consortium of Haldia Bulk Terminals, a joint venture between ABG Group and French firm IDA was virtually forced out of West Bengal after a series of labour unrests, alleged threats by trade unions, repeated shut downs and an alleged abduction of three of their officials. Even though the technical head of the company recounting his horror to TIMES NOW, Banerjee is in denial mode.
