A new hypersonic plane gets ready for for another chapter in space travel.
Would you go on a flight that takes you 62 miles above the surface of the planet at speeds of over 2 thousand 5 hundred miles an hour?
XCOR is a company offering the suborbital flight on their commercial aircraft named Lynx, for the price of 95 thousand dollars.
The two seated rocket powered vessel takes the passengers up very quickly and right back down again, with the whole ride lasting from 30 to 45 minutes.
XCOR Chief Operating Officer Andrew Nelson says business is good. "We've already sold over 225 seats, and those sales are accelerating… those include both personal space flights as well as science flights.
Each passenger has to be fitted with a pressure suit for protection, similar to the suit worn by Felix Baumgartner, who is the first man to break the sound barrier in a sky dive.
He recently made the record for the highest manned balloon flight, and the highest sky dive from around 128 thousand feet.
