I love enka. I am secretly an old man who loves nothing more than sitting around with my shoji paper doors wide open to my dewy ajisai (hydrangea) while drinking matcha and eating sweet bean pastries all the while humming enka, watching sumo, and pondering the glazy origins of my tea cup.
.....I am not even kidding.
I'm about two steps away from a haramaki to go under my old man haori I wear around the house.
Anyway, this song, Tsugaru Kaikyou - Fuyugeshiki is one of my favorites. I really like Isikawa Sayuri's voice. I also really like to freak people out my suddenly belting out Enka in the middle of a bunch of pop and anime songs.
Rattles them every time.
Ho ho ho ho ho.....
It took me like, a year to learn how to Kobushi properly. it's still a technique in progress for me, but I hope to pursue enka further.
I'd like Young people to appreciate the sound and the strength of emotion and sheer fabulousness Enka has to offer.
Young people these days....
What with their Mr. Taxi's and SNSD and AKB and NYC and.... alphabets and such....
I'd like to merge pop and enka to create PENKA! An international sensation of Kobushi and Fabulousness!
