Coming up today on Nick’s Gaming View, Xbox 360 reaches sales milestone, Microsoft dismisses social networking from new Xbox 360 dashboard, and PlayStation Mobile praised by involved developers, THIS IS NICK’S GAMING VIEW!

Hello everyone and welcome to Nick’s Gaming View, you are here with your host, Nick McCandless. Microsoft’s Xbox 360 video game console far exceeded the sales of the original Xbox years ago, but Microsoft has recently released information unveiling that their current video game platform has surpassed the 70 million mark. With 1.7 million units shipped just last quarter, Microsoft is in another successful holiday season especially with the release of Halo 4 just around the corner. While the Xbox 360 sales will fall short of what the Wii has been able to pull off, compared to Microsoft’s last outing on the console market, the Xbox 360 has exceeded expectations.

Continuing on Microsoft’s Xbox 360, the addition of social networking to the platform has been officially dismissed with the latest dashboard update removing both Twitter and Facebook. When questioned on the release of both social networking platforms, Microsoft responded by stating that the integration of Internet Explorer resolves the need for dedicated applications. While access to both Twitter and Facebook are still technically available via Internet Explorer, it would have been nice to maintain the dedicated applications for simplicity and efficiency.

Finishing off the news day, the PlayStation Mobile store that recently launched is certainly off to a rough start, but involved developers have praised the platform and validated the platform’s potential. While the sales have not been great, developers actively taking part within the platform have stated that their developer relations’ team is amazing and that all technical support needed has been provided. It is clear that Sony’s PlayStation division is attempting to achieve just a portion of what Apple has pulled off, but will they be able to on even just a smaller level?
