Makerbot Lands In Manhattan: See Their New 3D Printer In Action

Bre Pettis has led MakerBot as CEO since its beginning in 2009. He has essentially become the face of 3D printing and a leader in personal manufacturing.

Bre thought to create the first MakerBot years ago, after realizing it was just too expensive to get a 3D printer of his own.

Pettis is a known tinkerer and DIY master and can explain any technical subject to just about anyone.

Before co-founding MakerBot, Pettis co-founded Brooklyn hacker collective NYC Resistor, where MakerBot technology first came to life.

Bre has a true passion for 3D printing, MakerBot, and his loyal followers.

There is even a website, called Thingirverse, where MakerBot fans can connect and share their 3D printing creations.

Since the company was founded in 2009, MakerBot has produced four different machines, the newest being the Replicator 2.

MakerBot recently opened its first retail store in Manhattan, selling MakerBots, filament, and pre-made items like toys, watches, and figurines.

It is also a great spot for the public to see MakerBot’s new Replicator 2 in action.

The Replicator 2 is the new standard in desktop 3D printing, and can be yours for just $2,199.
