I have wanted to be a dentist since I was a young girl. My mother worked in dentistry for 35 years. And I sort of hung out in the dental office. I loved where she worked. I loved the dentists she worked for. It was very much an inspiring environment. I knew that I wanted to make a difference in people's lives someday too. Dentistry was always in the back of my mind.
So now that I have been a dentist for 22 years, I feel very very skilled in many areas of dentistry. On area that I feel very passionate about is neuromuscular dentistry. In neuromuscular dentistry you truly change lives. I've taken people's ringing in their ears away. I've helped the tingling in people's fingers go away. I've certainly helped migraine treatment and headache treatment as well.
Neuromuscular dentistry is fantastic, and there is a great institute where I have learned my neuromuscular dentistry. It's called LVI. That is short for the Las Vegas Institute for Advanced Dental Studies. I train there, and I teach there. Infact I was the second dentist ever to be awareded a mastership award in cosmetic and neuromuscular dentistry. I earned that award in 2004.
Last year in 2011 I earned an award called the fellowship in ICCMO. That stands for the International College of Cranio-Mandibular Orthopedics. They are pretty complicated words, but basically what it means is that I have a pretty high level of understanding in the field of neuromuscular dentistry.
