Archaeologists in Bulgaria have uncovered the remains of a town in the north-eastern Varna region that they believe makes it the oldest in Europe.
The site has been dated at between 4700 to 4200 BC, and is close to the site of Europe's oldest known salt factory, at the Provadia salt pans.
So far, British, Japanese and German scientists have confirmed the local team's findings.
