Man who participated in a cockroach eating contest dies shortly afterwards.
Taking part in a cockroach eating contest isn’t for everyone.
Recently, roaches ended up being the last meal for one man, who passed away directly following a contest. A 32-year-old Florida man, Edward Archbold ate dozens of cockroaches and worms in an attempt to take home a python as a winning prize from a reptile store.
While the exact quantity of bugs that Archbold had eaten was not released, he was said to be ‘the life of the party.’ (Immediately following the contest, Archbold began to vomit and he collapsed. He was taken to a nearby hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
None of the other contestants reported feeling sick. An autopsy will be performed but some suspect an allergic reaction may have been behind his early demise. An investigation into the incident is underway, but the store owner behind the contest claims that cockroaches are eaten by many people all over the world, stating “It’s nothing but pure, clean protein”.
