Pussy Riot appeal hearing set to resume

Security is tight outside a court in Russia Wednesday as an appeal hearing for members of the punk band Pussy Riot is set to resume.

Three members of the all girl band are serving two year jail terms for "hooliganism motivated by religious hatred" after performing an anti-Kremlin song in Moscow's main cathedral earlier this year.

The court is set to rule on an appeal to overturn that conviction.

The hearing was delayed from last week when one of the defendants requested different representation.

The women, aged 30, 22, and 24, will be sent to a prison colony far outside the capital, Moscow if the appeal is overruled.

Russian President Vladimir Putin said in a TV interview last week that the women had been justly sentenced.
