Tourists leaving the Greek island of Crete might expect crowds at the airport - but not this crowd.

On Thursday hundreds of Cretan farmers drove their tractors in front of the island's airport to protest against the latest round of austerity measures.

Government cuts will reduce pensions, increase their taxes, and privatise the Agricultural Bank where farmers receive their loans.

Protests across the country have picked up momentum in recent days.

There is widespread anger at the austerity measures Greece has promised its EU and IMF lenders in a bid to secure aid and keep the country afloat.
