The TV station is reporting "heavy casualties" and numerous fatalities in a number of clashes in the city.
Pictures showed Syrian forces patrolling quiet streets.

The failure of either side to break the military deadlock is reflected diplomatically. Foreign powers are divided over how to act. Western states and Gulf Arab countries back the opposition but most seem reluctant to interfere, while Russia, China and Iran back President Bashar al-Assad.
Syrian TV is also reporting that government forces found a stock pile of weapons hidden in a drainage canal.
Amateur video which could not be independently verified by Reuters shows bodies wrapped in sheets in a Damascus suburb. Activists say more than 30,000 people have been killed in Syria since the uprising began last March.
