One of the World's Longest Bus Routes to Cover 4,000 Miles - as part of the news series by GeoBeats.
You need to travel 4000 miles - how would you do it? Air travel, ofcourse! But now if you are going from Birmingham, UK to Mirpur, Kashmir, you can take a bus! Hard to believe but it's true.
Hi I am Matt, discussing plans for a new bus service spanning 4,000 miles, making it one of the world's longest bus routes. The journey will take the bus through seven countries in 12 days.
Passengers will reportedly be charged about $215 per ticket, which will save them more than $650 when compared to air travel costs. Although there have been challenges in negotiating with transport companies, four luxury buses are slated to be on the road once a fortnight.
A Birmingham Labour official states “It’s a great idea that will bring the two cities closer together and be a real life experience, particularly for younger people.”
However, there are some security fears as the bus is planned to go through parts of Pakistan where Taliban commanders may be hiding.
What do you think - is this bus service a good idea?
