The Founder and Leader of Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM) Mr Altaf Hussain has appealed to the shopkeepers, market associations and the general citizens to implement a neighbourhood watch system in their respective markets and localities in view of terrorism threats. He said this while talking to the members of the Co-ordination Committee of the MQM at Nine Zero.
He condemned the bomb blasts near Hyderi market in Karachi and expressed grief and sorrow over the dying and injuring of many people in the blasts. He warned that the terrorist elements want to carry out large-scale terrorist activities in Karachi. Whereas it is the prime responsibility of the government to give protection to its citizens, it is equally important for the citizens to extend full co-operation to the government in this regard.
He emphasized upon the shopkeepers and market associations to keep a watchful eye in their vicinity and alert the police and other law-enforcing agencies in case of any suspicious activities in their area. Timely information from the citizens can help save many lives.
He also asked the office-bearers and workers of the MQM and common citizens to implement a neighborhood watch system in their area on self-help basis for protecting their respective areas. He asked the people to form vigilance committee in their areas and keep an eye on the suspicious people coming in their areas.
