If you have ever wanted to speak the language of Cleopatra, this might be your chance.

After 40 years of research, the University of Chicago has published an online Demotic dictionary - the language of ancient Egypt.

Beyond showing us how people spoke at the time, the dictionary also tells us how people lived as far back as 650BC - for instance, some documents show that women had the right to own land.
