Pope Benedict arrives for a youth rally in Lebanon Saturday evening.
It is the second day of his visit -- a visit that has been clouded by war in neighboring Syria and protests across the Muslim world.
Peace between warring factions and among the many religious groups in the Middle East has been a central theme of Benedict's visit.
He also had a message for Syria.
(SOUNDBITE) (French) POPE BENEDICT SAYING:
"I understand, that there are young people from Syria here. I want to say how much I admire your courage. Tell your families and friends back home that the Pope has not forgotten you."
The German-born pope began his visit on Friday with a call for an end to all arms supplies to Syria, where the tiny Christian minority fears reprisals if Islamists come to power.
As night fell, the 85-year-old pontiff, was treated to a mixture of song and fireworks.
