ROUGH CUT (NO REPORTER NARRATION)

STORY: Veteran designer Ralph Lauren took his woman on a gypsy caravan and spun her around on a Spanish dance floor for his spring 2013 collection, held at an off-site venue of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week (MBFW) in New York on Thursday (September 13).

Models in poet blouses with cascading ruffles, troubadour pants and embellished bolero jackets strutted down the runway carrying on the gypsy theme.

Large serapes and black leather fringe pants added some Latin flavor to the collection too.

For spring Lauren chose splashes of turquoise and tomato red as highlights in a mostly black and white collection, using silk, cotton and occasionally organza.

From fringy chiffon dresses in flower prints to more traditional looking evening wear, a hint of Spanish flare was ever present in the form of embroideries, accessories or fit.

The long evening gowns with ruffle details in silk and organza looked like they were ready to be worn by a flamenco dancer.

Lauren was one of the last designers showcasing at MBFW, with his show taking place on the last day of the week-long fashion fiesta.
