Passing through Amarkantak Biodiversity Zone: Pankaj Oudhia’s Ethnobotanical Surveys 2012

I was in Amarkantak Biodiversity Zone at the end of August 2012 for Ethnobotanical Surveys. The area is rich in flora and fauna and natives have rich Traditional Medicinal Knowledge about herbs and insects. I am visiting this Biodiversity rich zone since 20 years. I observed increasing infestation obnoxious weed Parthenium hysterophorus in valley affecting health of common people as well as forest health.

During interaction with the Traditional Healers I was informed that the availability of many herbs is decreasing in the region at alarming rate.
