The dictionary is the definitive repository of words and languages. Most people see it as stable and unchanging. But new words are added every year and obsolete languages are removed. This year the Harper Collins dictionary anounced it is adding the words LOLZ and Twitterverse among other words, recognizing the power of online communication in shaping the modern English language.
