Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney told voters in battleground state of Ohio Monday that he will jump start America's economy with a balanced budget and that there will be better times ahead.
(SOUNDBITE) (English) MITT ROMNEY, REPUBLICAN PRESIDENTIAL NOMINEE SAYING:
"America does not have to have the long face we have right now under this president. We can get America going again, growing again. I know we can do it, I'm calling on your help. I need Ohio to help me become the next president. We're going to take a step forward to keep this nation strong, to keep America the hope of the Earth. Thanks You so very much, you guys are the best. Thank You Ohio. We're going to get it done."
The latest Reuters/Ispos poll shows President Barack Obama leading the race for the White House at 47 percent with Romney coming in at 43 percent.
But among independent voters, the poll show Romney ahead with 35 percent compared with Obama at 31 percent.
But asked which of the two "will protect American jobs," 32 percent of independent voters picked Obama, while 27 percent sided with Romney.
