It was a night for Democrats to rally around their leader...

Delegates and supporters roared their approval as U.S. President Barack Obama spoke on the final night of the Democratic National Convention in North Carolina.

The message most took away was one of togetherness.

(SOUNDBITE) (English) ROSE HAMID, OBAMA SUPPORTER FROM NORTH CAROLINA SAYING:

"I think the fact that he included everybody, this is an America for everybody, for all the people, it's not just for a select few, but this is something that we're all born to work on together."

(SOUNDBITE) (English) TOM LETSON, OHIO STATE REPRESENTATIVE, SAYING:

"We're Democrats, this is what we do. We celebrate, we enthuse, we invigorate the people that are around us, we include everyone in the party and this is what happens. I think we applaud at the right times and I think we listen at the right times."

Obama urge voters to give him more time to help repair a damaged economy and a high unemployment rate.

The latest Reuters / Ipsos poll has Obama and Republican opponent Mitt Romney running neck and neck.
