Smoke rises from a deadly blaze at a fireworks factory in Southern India.

The fire killed at least 33 people, but with many workers feared to be trapped inside the building, the death toll could rise.

Most of the victims died from burns or shrapnel injuries after the flames triggered off explosive blasts.

More than 50 people are reported to be injured.

Firefighters rushed to the scene to prevent the fire from reaching nearby buildings, but explosions within the factory prevented rescue workers from entering to save those trapped inside.

Most of the country's fireworks come from factories here which are currently in overdrive ahead of Diwali - one of India's most popular festivals celebrating the victory of light over darkness.
