Miners marched in La Paz on Tuesday to demand the government hand over to them the right to run operations at the Colquiri tin and zinc mine.
President Evo Morales' government stripped global commodities firm Glencore of the concession in June after weeks of violent protests, and handed it over to a mining cooperative.
But the unions say the cooperative is no different to Glencore as it operates within the private sector and that the mine should be owned by the miners.
On Tuesday, they marched through the streets of La Paz, lobbing sticks of dynamite at riot police who responded with tear gas.
