Cape Cod beachgoers were greeted this Labor Day weekend with signs and red flags stating that the beaches were closed due to "Marine Life." After several great white sharks were spotted off Cape Cod, officials decided it would be safer to close the beaches.

It's a good thing they did. Days later a huge great white shark washed ashore at a popular tourist site. The shark, measuring at 13 feet and weighing around 1,600 pounds, was found by the Rhode Island/Massachusetts border.

Only one shark attack has been reported so far, by a bodyboarder was the first person to be bitten in the past 75 years.
