One of the biggest voices in opera today has just partnered with NTD. Marcello Giordani has been called, "Arguably, the greatest leading tenor of his generation," by Opera News. He's sung in over 170 performances at the New York Metropolitan Opera over the past 20 years, and now he'll be singing at NTD's International Vocal Competition.
Of course he's not a competitor. Mr. Giordani will be performing at the final concert, along with the competition winners, at the world famous Stern Auditorium in Carnegie Hall.
He says he will perform three classic operatic arias including Nessun Dorma at the concert.
The competition is part of a series of nine different competitions NTD holds to promote mutual understanding between the East and West. This year, contestants from around the world will have to perform not only the greatest operatic works in Italian, c, and German but also sing a selected classical Chinese song.
Mr. Giordani will be handing out awards at the award ceremony and will perform at the final concert on October 21st.
