Typhon Haikui hits China's east coast

Typhoon Haikui has hit eastern China, with winds gusting up to 150 kilomteres an hour, trees, roads and buildings have been torn apart.

The rains have swamped large areas of Eastern China, stranding hundreds of people.

And it has forced almost two million people to leave their homes.

The typhoon prompted China's Weather Office to issue its first red alert of the year.
