Kabul stages contemporary art exhibit

2012-09-03 12

A contemporary art exhibition born out of the destruction suffered by Germany in World War Two, is now being staged in Afghanistan. The curators hope the show, which gathers mostly Afghan artists, will give Afghans a break from the trauma that surrounds them. The merits of contemporary art are often hotly debated in artistic circles in Afghanistan. The fact that this exhibition is taking place in Kabul is a sign of a city that is growing in confidence. Al Jazeera's Bernard Smith reports from Kabul.
