Oikos Christmas in August

While most people don’t start thinking about the holiday season until after Halloween Oikos Greek Yogurt and Chef Rob Rossi are way ahead of the game this season. They teamed up and decided to bring some early holiday cheer to guests for “Christmas in August”. Although Adara and myself weren’t quite sure why they decided on a holiday dinner in the middle of August. We were still more than happy to skip on over to the Distillery District to represent View the Vibe for the night.

The menu was was rich and hearty looking, and of course each dish had a Oikos Yogurt spin to it. The first course was curried lentil soup, which made you feel warm and cozy – perfect for an crisp cool Autumn day. It was savory with thick pieces of carrot, onion, and packed with lentils. The main was your classic holiday dinner, Yorkshire Valley Farms organic chicken marinated with Harissa and Oikos Greek Yogurt on top of green beans and mashed sweet potatoes. Adara summed up the meal perfectly with four words “It tastes like Christmas!” Indeed it did, the creaminess of the mashed , the crispy green beans and finally the chicken cooked to perfection. It was the kind of meal that afterwards you wanted to sit around the fireplace while drinking mulled wine and catch up with old friends.

Strolling home afterwards it definitely felt as though Christmas was in the air, that or the shot of ouzo we had after dinner had kicked in. Either way, the holiday meal Chef Rob Rossi created left guests feeling warm and happy inside and out. The way you feel after any good holiday meal.
