ROUGH CUT (NO REPORTER NARRATION)
STORY: Wearing feathers and cowboys hats, Romney - Ryan stickers and buttons, Republicans nominated Mitt Romney on Tuesday to challenge U.S. President Barack Obama for the White House.
One delegate dressed as a witch and another dressed as sheriff Wyatt Earp. Members of the Texas delegation fashioned cowboy hats while delegates from West Virginia wore hard hats, a nod to their state's coal mining industry.
"I am completely excited. I am just really ready to get going. It is one of those can't contain the excitement, pre-kick-off types of things, just ready to go," delegate Apollo Fuhriman of Washington said.
Republicans hope to use the convention to make an aggressive argument for booting U.S. President Barack Obama from office while presenting a softer side of Romney, who is struggling to overcome a "likability gap" with the president and refute critics who paint him as a job-killing, out-of-touch former private equity executive.
