US intelligence officer expresses hopes for Afghanistan

US officials say President Barack Obama has reached his goal of withdrawing 10,000 troops from Afghanistan in 2011.

The withdrawal is the first phase for international forces that aim to leave Afghanistan by the end of 2014, Yet, 91,000 American soldiers remain in the country.

But some US forces in Afghanistan say they are worried about leaving the country.

Major Eric Butler is an intelligence officer for the 172nd Brigade. He spoke to Al Jazeera at the Sharana base in Patika province.
