Relief in a Norweigen courtroom as Andres Behring Breivik is declared sane and sentenced to 21 years in prison.

(SOUNDBITE) (English) AUF (YOUTH WING OF THE LABOUR PARTY) LEADER, ESKIL PEDERSEN, SAYING:

"I am satisfied with the verdict, that the person responsible will get his punishment and that he will be put to jail."

Breivik admitted to detonating a fertilizer bomb outside a government building, killing eight, before gunning down 69 others at Norway's ruling political party's summer youth camp.

The 33-year-old will be kept in isolation in the outskirts of Oslo inside relatively spacious quarters that include a separate exercise room, a computer and a television.

CO-ORDINATING LEGAL COUNSEL FOR THE VICTIMS LAWYER, METTE YVONNE LARSON, SAYING:

"Because this is justice and this is about taking the responsibility for what he did. Because he is not an insane person, then he would have no responsibility. So it is nothing about where he is going to stay, it is to take the responsibility for what he did this day."

Breivik had argued for a sane verdict as he wanted the attack to be seen as a lucid political statement.
