Residents in Bab Amr in the Syrian city of Homs are calling for western intervention, as activists say the area has come under renewed attack from forces loyal to President Bashar al-Assad.

The opposition says the Syrian government wants to crush the stubborn rebellion in this centre of protest before the arrival of Arab League observers, who will soon be on the ground to monitor the unrest.

Zeina Khodr reports from neighbouring Turkey, as Al Jazeera is banned from reporting from within Syria.
