Kristen Stewart is having an up and down week. Her "Panic Room" costar Jodie Foster wrote an on-line op-ed piece in defense of the actress. Foster criticizes the current culture of celebrity obsession and leaves encouraging words for Stewart, saying that the gossip will 'eventually blow away.' On the other hand, The Hollywood Reporter has reported that Universal Pictures is considering shelving a potential 'Snow White' spinoff with Stewart, instead focusing on a movie revolving around Chris Hemsworth's 'Huntsman.' Universal, however, has released a statement saying that they have made no decisions about Stewart or the future of the franchise.

Security guards scuffled with masked protesters who demonstrated outside Moscow's main cathedral on Wednesday (August 15) in support of three members of the Pussy Riot punk band who are on trial for staging an irreverent protest at the same church. A Moscow court is set to issue a verdict on Friday (August 17). The defendants have been held in jail for five months.

Shia LaBeouf says he's quitting big budget movies. The "Transformers" star told The Hollywood Reporter that he's done with the Hollywood studios and is redirecting his career in favor of indie films. LaBeouf has made similar comments before but his upcoming films seem to live up to the comments. His next film, this summer's "Lawless," is an indie project that he helped produce.
