A truck bomb has exploded in the Syrian capital Damascus, near the Dama Rose Hotel used by UN observers, in a heavily fortified part of the city.
The rebel Syrian Free Army says the attack targeted a meeting of the government's army chiefs which had been due to take place in the neighbouring military compound.
