Italy: Jobs at risk due to ILVA steel factory row

A legal dispute over whether Europe's biggest steel plant has to close down whilst making improvements is threatening the jobs of thousands of Italian workers.

Almost 12,000 employees work at the ILVA plant in Taranto in southern Italy.

The Taranto appeals court has ruled the plant can remain open. However, prosecutors say a partial closure will protect public health.
