London Poverty Torch Relay - Hackney

A short video made from footage of the Poverty Torch Relay through Hackney on Friday 27 July 2012. The narrative is provided by Simon Shaw, a local activist, who appears later on in the video (in his cycling gear).

The purpose of the relay was to raise awareness abou the negative impacts of the Olympic Games, and other mega-events, on the host city, and the creation of injustices. The relay itself ran from Clissold Park to Leyton Marsh in Hackney with the additional aim of promoting a demonstration which took place the following day (a Whose Olympics? video of which will follow soon). Many thanks to all involved.
