In western Netherlands, you can visit a recently opened real life Noah's Ark.
It's a re-creation of the Biblical vessel on a grand scale. Based on historical references, the designer, Johan Huibers, aims to give visitors a first-hand experience of what Naoh's Ark would have been like and how people here would have lived.
This has been a project - 20 years in the making. For years, Huibers researched on the Ark and saved money before starting construction in 2005.
The completed vessel has similar size as the historical account of original Noah's Ark - about 30 metres wide, 23 metres high and 135 metres long.
Its website notes that the Ark showcases presentations about Noah’s history, scholarly background information, various themed paintings, cinemas. There's also a restaurant and two amphitheatres for event.
And ofcourse, this experience wouldn't be complete without the animals - you can pet sheep and rabbits during your visit.
