Israeli blockade limits Gaza farm export

The Israeli blockade of the Gaza Strip has meant that farmers have not been able to export most of their produce, starving them of a much needed economic lifeline.

Palestinian farmers grow strawberries, peppers, tomatoes and flowers, but Israel's security blockade since 2007 has meant most produce won't find an external market.

According to the terms of an agreement between Israel and the Palestinian Authority in 2005, about 400 trucks of fruit and vegetables should be exported from Gaza every day.

But at the only crossing out of Gaza still operating for goods, the number of trucks making it out of the territory are much lower.
